Currently On My Counter: The Beauty Products I Can't Live Without
There are so many great beauty products out there… How do you even choose?
I was a longtime subscriber to Birchbox. I loved the packaging and the mini testers of everything… The problem is, I never really tested anything. Which, should come as no surprise – I’m an ‘all in’ kinda gal. So when I saw FabFitFun, it was love at first sight. “I get HOW many FULL-SIZED products in each box?” It was a dream. I promptly signed up for the VIP membership and never looked back.
I know the concept of FabFitFun probably sounds scary to some of you ‘I like to dip my toe in the water’ -types, but I will say – the bulk majority of the product I’ve received I’ve LOVED. Truly. They do a great job of curating their boxes and partnering with quality brands.
Let me get to the point of my FabFitFun mention before this sounds like a big old FabFitFun sell (I make NO money from FabFitFun – I just love them that much) – some of my most favorite beauty and personal care products have been discovered via FabFitFun. Things I can no longer live without.
So, without further ado, I give what’s currently on my counter (and I DO mean it’s currently on my counter – because Olivia has a habit of taking everything out of every cabinet…).
OUAI Leave-In Conditioner
Y’all. This is the kind of leave-in conditioner that has me smelling my own hair for and hours after use. This was one of my FabFitFun finds… I can’t even remember what box it came in, but I can tell you I’ll never use another leave-in conditioner. Incredible smell aside, it works its magic and truly acts as a great conditioning component. While some conditioners leave hair greasy, this does not. In fact, I’ve used it after conditioning my hair – and it only adds to the silkiness. Love, love, love. Also, you’re welcome.
Good Chemistry Gardenia Palm Perfume
I found this gem at Target in the women’s activewear section, of all places. The body spray version was sitting on an end cap next to a lineup of gym bag items, and my nosey self – of course – had to smell it. Boy am I glad I did! This scent is the actual best – truly. It’s fresh but soft and not too strong. Best part? It’s completely vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, and proplyene glycol-free. And yes, I do have the body spray AND perfume.
Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion – $42
This was another FabFitFun beauty find, and it ended my long search for the perfect face lotion. I don’t struggle with acne, really. I tend to have pretty dry skin, and run the risk of using something that almost over-moisturizes and leaves my skin oily. This moisturizer is like a breath of fresh air for the face – it covers and moisturizes, but doesn’t feel like you have anything on your face at the very same time. The fine people of Murad have certainly found the secret to great skincare – I’ve now tried numerous Murad products, and each is better than the next!
Olay Daily Facials – $11
I’m not entirely sure my esthetician would support me in this, but Olay Daily Facials have been my staple for years. I couldn’t leave them off the list! I had issues with acne as a teen, and have really sensitive skin in general. It wasn’t until I started using Daily Facials in my everyday routine that finicky skin was no longer an issue. Now, I understand that what works for me may not work for everyone. BUT, I love the simplicity of these – as someone that travels a good bit for work, they’re water-activated, which means they’re dry and, thus, easy to pack! I throw several of these suckers in a ziplock bag, drop it in my suitcase, and I’m good to go!
Garnier® SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water – $7
This inclusion is the lazy girl in me, coming out via blog post. Picture it with me – it’s a Friday night, late (it may even be Saturday morning). You’ve just come home and you spent SO much energy on the dance floor at the local bar, you can’t fathom having enough to wash your face (especially if you’ve elected to wear fake lashes – that glue is good for at LEAST another five minutes of scrubbing…). Cue the micellar water. This solution takes makeup off like a boss and will leave your face feeling (somewhat) refreshed as you hit the pillow for some much-needed zzz’s.
